Announcing the Wedding Party

Boy are we getting closer—we have a WEDDING PARTY! Actually Wendy started it off back in October by asking her cousin Karli if two of her little munchkins, Mackenzie and Jack, would be flowergirl and ring bearer. For some reason Wendy gets super nervous when asking people to be in the wedding. Trevor thinks she is silly. But Wendy can’t get over it. Gets really shaky when asking people and drinks lots of wine (if possible) before popping the question. How did Trevor ever propose?

Anywho---the details. Wendy asked Emilie, Meghan, Melissa and Alissa to be bridesmaids over dinner at Bravo. Fun dinner so we’ll forget about the fact it took two hours for a table. The girls seemed to have liked the fun bridesmaid ornaments they received as gifts.

Four days following Wendy asked Kristi, Megan, Michelle and Katie the same question over brunch at Wheatfields. It's FUN to have a wedding party and Wendy tells Trevor he should try it.Trevor asks the boys to be attendants over an Omaha vacation between Christmas and New Years. He doesn’t make as big of a deal about it like Wendy does. Eventually we have eight groomsmen: Eric, Bill, Mike, Josh, Kalin, Corey, Kory and Zach. We also asked Lizzie and Denise to be personal attendants, Shannon to be wedding “co-din-a-tor,” Annie & Sam to be a host couple and Wendy's Uncle Rod to be a reader. A few more people to ask and we’re done!

We Love Cookies

So Wendy often gets made fun of for remembering anniversaries of sorts. She’ll often take strolls down memory lane and say such things as, “two years and four days ago at this time we were at our graduation party,” or “just think…if it was 1999 right now, we’d be in South Padre Island instead of here at work.” Whatever. Anyway, to honor this “talent” as we call it, Meghan had a gift delivered to Wendy’s office with a look forward to where we’d be one year from today…

So fun, so thoughtful and SO good! Thanks, Meghan!

But Where?

Ladies and gentleman-we have a church and reception hall! Yeppers-deposits are in, bride and groom are happy. We’re pleased to announce we’ll be married in Dundee Presbyterian Church with reception immediately following at the Old Market Embassy Suites. Our rehearsal dinner will be held the night before the wedding at the Joslyn Castle. All should be beautiful—especially at Christmas time!

THE Dress

Wedding dress shopping extravaganza weekend 2K4. Mary drove to KC to accompany Wendy and friends (including but not limited to Melissa, Emilie, Meghan, Lizzie and Becki) to wedding dress stores around the city. Mary and Emilie managed to stay entertained with some veil-trying-on.

Four stores later the entourage ventured to Ida's Custom Veils. Don’t let the name fool you friends—this is where “the dress” was found. Gail, our wonderful helper, must have read Wendy’s mind because the first dress shown was perfect. The crew fell in love—and since Wendy didn’t want to take it off, we knew it was the one. Bet you want to see it. Too bad. If Trevor can’t see it, you can’t see it either.

How it All Began...

The day it all began. For those of you who don’t know, Trevor proposed to Wendy on her birthday (which is September 7 but of course you all knew that and had it posted in your calendars). Anywho-it was a fabulous day. Trevor picked up Wendy around 11 a.m. with plans for a sushi-lunch. Wendy should have known something was up since Trevor agreed to eat at BLUE—it had been quite clear for years Trevor did not do sushi. So the happy couple wanders to the restaurant, birthday girl orders a cosmo and they eat under the HOT September Omaha sun. Plans for after lunch? Wendy wants to go to the bank, drive by mom and dad’s new house, ride horses at Mahoney State Park, hang at a bar—anything besides get ice cream at Ted & Wally's in the Old Market like Trevor hoped. Finally Wendy agreed as she’ll always give into ice cream. After a strawberry shortcake for her and a mint chip cone for him, the duo walked toward Con Agra and Heartland of America Park with sweet treats in hand.

After walking for a few thirty-minutes or so Trevor and Wendy plopped down on a bench near Rick's Boatyard Cafe, chatting as if everything was normal when all of a sudden Trevor was down on one knee with a "birthday present." All Wendy remembers is being hot, sweaty and in shock. But she did say yes (and Oh My Gosh a lot) after reminding Trevor she was high maintenance and asking him if he was sure.

The occasion was celebrated with a birthday/engagment dinner with both families, followed by an exciting get together with friends at Tanner's.
